Research Cores

The objectives of the COBRE Research Cores are to provide investigators throughout RI with:

  • enhanced capability to generate complex immunologic datasets
  • assistance and guidance in managing and analyzing the data generated

Statistics and Data Management Core- Jennifer Friedman, Core Leader

This Core provides consultation and assistance to support investigators in managing and analyzing research data, such as the large datasets generated by multiparameter flow cytometry and highly multiplexed immunoassays, and to link these data with clinical predictors and outcomes collected in the field. The Core will also perform more sophisticated data analytic approaches, including hierarchical, repeated measures modeling and Principal Components Analysis.

Cell Analysis and Sorting Core- Loren Fast, Core Leader

This Core provides flow cytometry and automated cell sorting services. Flow cytometry services are available using either a 4-laser, 12-parameter LSR II analyzer or an automated 3-laser, 8-color MACSQuant-10 analyzer. Cell sorting services are available using the AutoMACS platform housed in a class IIA biosafety cabinet.

High-Throughput Multiplexed Immunoassay Core- Jonathan Kurtis, Core Leader

This Core provides high-throughput assays on the CIHR Luminex platform. The Luminex platform allows deeply multiplexed analyses and can be customized for multiple uses including nucleic acid detection. CIHR currently has dual Luminex readers and automated sample handling equipment.
